BIOGRAPHY

Geoffrey Stewart is an Assistant Professor of Marketing in the Moody College of Business and received his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.  He is native of Lafayette, LA and received a B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Louisiana.

Dr. Stewart’s research interests include customer value determination, business relationship development, supply chain management and the role of marketing in economic development.  Among his current research projects are an exploratory study of the role private-sector/nonprofit businesses play in the redevelopment of communities which have been impacted by natural disaster and a qualitative examination of community-based entrepreneurship/supply chain management in Louisiana’s cultural economy.

In addition to his research, Dr. Stewart is a co-founder of the National Incident Management Systems and Advanced Technologies Institute (NIMSAT) at the University of Louisiana.  NIMSAT was formally launched in March 2008 and features a multidisciplinary research agenda that seeks to provide insight into the interface between disaster management and the supply chains, and critical infrastructures/key resources that assist in developing resilient communities.

Geoff’s teaching interests include marketing strategy, event marketing, business-to-business marketing, and principles of marketing.  His teaching philosophy lends itself to the incorporation of service learning activities and his students have developed marketing plans with clients like the UL Industrial Design Program, the Lafayette Economic Development Authority, UL Athletics, community nonprofit agencies, local visual artists, and regional music events.
