CCET Associates Meeting: March 23, 2004

Dr. Paulette Hebert was promoted to full professor in 2005 in the School of Architecture and Design (SOAD) where she teaches interior design and architecture courses.  She continues as Director of the Facility Design and Management Studio (FDM Studio) whose mission is to "provide design assistance to on-campus entities".  She oversees student designers who are employed at UL Lafayette through the FDM Studio.  Recent projects include renovations to the following:  the French House for the New Offices for Enrollment Services (completed), Dean' of Education's Suite and the Lobby of Maxim Doucet Hall (completed), Dean of Nursing's Suite and Conference Room in Wharton Hall (under construction).  Recent proposals include those for Dupre Library improvements, Rose Garden Dormitories' renovations, and proposals for an Art and Accessories program for the new Hilton Garden Inn on UL Lafayette's Campus.

Recent conference presentations include "Light Trespass & Facility Design & Management" to the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), World Workplace Japan Conference in Yokohama Japan;  "FDM Studio" at the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) Regional Conference in Tulsa OK; "Mind, Body & Spirit:  Holistic Concepts for Student Healthcare Design Projects" at the Annual Education Research Conference in Beaumont, TX, co-author Eisen, S.

Dr. Hebert continues to write her regular column, "Literature Review", for New York-based Lighting Design and Application (LD&A) Magazine.  Dr. Hebert serves as Book Review Editor for this international publication of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES).  Hebert also reviewed manuscripts and books for Fairchild Publications.

Dr. Hebert is a licensed and registered interior designer and a practicing lighting designer.  Recent professional design awards include: National Lighting Design Award: "Certificate of Distinction" from Lucifer Lighting for the professional design project:  CO-OP Bookstore, Baton Rouge, LA; National Interior Design & Lighting Design Award:  Juried Exhibit "Honorable Mention" from IDEC:  First Baptist Church of Lafayette; National Interior Design Award:  "Prestigious Installation" from Mannington Commercial for First Baptist Church of Lafayette; Design Educators National Juried Exhibition:  "Accepted into show and selected for publication cover":  First Baptist Church of Lafayette; Local Interior Design Award:  "Bronze Medallion" from the Independent for First Baptist Church of Lafayette; Louisiana State "Certificate" from the Office of the Governor for re-appointment to the Louisiana State Board of Examiners of Interior Designers.

Dr. Hebert is the recipient of a Sabbatical for the Fall of 2005.  She will be developing and teaching an interdisciplinary lighting course for graduate students Oklahoma State University.  She also plans to further her research into light trespass.
