I
have received an I.Sc. in Agriculture at Tribhuvan Univ. at Chitwan, Nepal
in 1980; a B.S. in Agriculture at Univ. of Agriculture, Faisalabad,
Pakistan in 1988; a M.S. in Natural Resource Management at Asian Institute
of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand in 1991; and a Ph.D. in Soil Science, Univ.
of Georgia, Athens, GA in 1998. My professional experience consists
of Research Fellow at Asian Vegetable Research and Development Center, Taiwan
(1991-1994); Graduate Research Assist. in Sustainable Agricultural and Natural
Resource Management Collaborative Research Support Program, Univ. of Georgia
(1994-1998); Research Manager, Sustainable Agriculture Farming Systems project,
Univ. of California Davis (1998-2000); and am currently Assistant Prof.
of Soil Science and Director of Ag. Auxiliary Units, Dept. of Renewable
Resources, Univ. of Louisiana Lafayette since Aug. 2000.
I have been senior author and/or co-author of 14 journals and 19 other publications.
According to Elsevier Science, in Agricultural Systems, "Impacts of
Cropping Systems on Soil Nitrogen Storage and Loss" has been one of
the top 10 most downloaded articles Jan.-Dec. 2001. I have been reviewer
for refereed journals "Agriculture, Ecosystem and Environment",
"Agronomy Journal", and "Journal of Nutraceuticals, Functional
& Medical Foods".
Courses taught at UL Lafayette include Soil Science, Wetland Soils, Soil
and Water Conservation, Water Quality Monitoring, Environmental Pedology,
and Soil Genesis and Survey. I am Principal Investigator of the following
research grants at UL Lafayette: Water Quality Monitoring in Vermilion-Teche
River Basin, Water Quality Monitoring in Bayou Plaquemine Brule Watershed,
Organic Farming Systems in Southwestern Louisiana, Dairy-waste Treatments,
and Laboratory Development. Professional affiliations include membership
in American Society of Agronomy, Soil Science Society of America, and the
President of Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars, UL
Lafayette Chapter.
Awards and recognitions include the following: Immigration and Naturalization
Services, USA Æ Outstanding Professor or Researcher; College of Applied
Life Sciences Dean's Excellence Award, Spring 2001 "Greatest Impact
on College by a New Faculty Member"; recognized as "Research Resourcefulness"
by the Dept. of Renewable Resources, ULL, Spring 2001; SLEMCO/BOR
Professor in Applied Life Sciences, UL Lafayette, Fall 2000-2003; Carl Duisberg
Gesellschaft Scholarship Award to participate on Coastal Zone Environmental
