George Woddell is an assistant professor in Environmental Sociology. Previous work includes development of a risk index for waterborne vessel traffic on the MIssissippi River, impact analyses for various marsh restoration projects in southern Louisiana and studies of shrimping, subsidence, and oil field matters.

Ph.D. Louisiana State University, 1999 (Sociology).
Dissertation title: Hazards to Navigation on the Lower Mississippi River and At- Risk Human Populations.

M.A.: Louisiana State University, 1993 (Sociology).
Thesis title: "Folk Healing, Subsistence and Marginal Economics Among the Louisiana French."

B.A.: University of Southwestern Louisiana, 1983 (Major in Sociology; Minor in Biology).
