The Louisiana legislature established Webster Parish on February 27, 1871. Located in the north Louisiana Hill Country, Webster Parish has a diversified economy based upon agriculture, forestry, and small-scale manufacturing.

Webster Parish is perhaps best known for the Germantown Museum and the its environmental tourism resources, particularly the Lake Bistineau State Park and the Caney Creek Lake State Park.
